The mountainous terrain of Krishnagiri has been inhabited from the early pre-historic times and in the heart of this lies nature’s splendor at its very best! The place owes its name to the abundant black granite found in the region.

Krishnagiri has been ruled by many mighty Dynasties, throughout the ages. It serves as a gateway to the district of Tamil Nadu, due to it’s strategic location. For the same reason the place has many Citadels built on top of hills, originally built to defend the land from invaders. Krishnagiri has also served a prominent place in the wars of Mysore fought against the British. The district also is today one of the finest producers of tasty mangoes in the country.
