Every year Kerala tourism celebrates the World Tourism Day on 27th September with various tourism promotional activities like tourism quiz. This year Kerala is all set to run a campaign to score one million goals in a single day to promote the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup of which Kochi is a host city. The one million goals event will be held across the entire state from Thiruvanthapuram to Kasargod and all the panchayats, municipalities and corporations will be part of the grand promotion. The state-wide promotional activity will be with targets of 2000, 10000, 15000 individual goals for each panchayat, municipality and corporation respectively. The goal posts will be set upright at different venues in each district that includes schools, colleges, grounds and stadiums. Volunteers would be assigned to each venue to take digital count of the successful goals scored in that venue. Any individual can take the shot to goal and score goal. Every person would only get one go to the goal and should try to score the goal.
The football campaign aims at providing awareness to citizens regarding the upcoming U17 World Cup football and ensuring the participation across the state. The persons participating in the event should score goal from the penalty spot and size of goalpost differ based on the size of the host place. There will awards to sections that score the maximum goals. The whole activity would start at 3.00PM and will last till 7.00PM on 27th September 2017.
